We are seeking an experienced Insurance and Risk Manager to manage the council's insurance service.
You will manage a small, busy team and be able to organise and prioritise work, taking account of changing pressures. You will need to be able to respond quickly to urgent issues and communicate effectively, providing advice and expertise to a range of stakeholders.
You will have the confidence to manage complex, sensitive and significant insurance claims from the public, other organisations and employees and the resilience to apply the council's policies in a fair and reasonable manner.
An ability to evaluate the most cost effective options for insurance is required including the procurement of insurers and management of the relationship with insurers and brokers.
An in depth working knowledge of insurance is required together with an up to date understanding of current industry issues.
You will be an experienced insurance manager with a minimum of 5 years in the insurance sector or working for a local authority or other public sector organisation.
An insurance or related financial qualification is desirable but relevant experience, aptitude and a successful track record are more important.
